This one day training course is designed to provide educators with strategies to enhance the higher level literacy skills of students with special emphasis on morphology for decoding, encoding and vocabulary development.
English is a morphophonemic language. After having attended the Yoshimoto Advanced Morphology training course, you will be ready to integrate morphology into your teaching across key multiple subject areas, such as English, Mathematics, Science, History, etc.
Learning Outcomes
Participants will be able to:
- Recognise the components of higher level literacy.
- Identify morphemes within words including prefixes, roots and suffixes as well as parts of speech (grammar).
- Describe the importance of teaching morphology with relation to the meaning of words, which enhances vocabulary development which can support learning across all content areas
- Create and implement higher level / morphological literacy lessons.
Resources provided include morphology card decks, digital morphology references and worksheets.
