You have successfully completed our Yoshimoto Orton-Gillingham Basic training, and have a comprehensive understanding of the explicit, systematic, and multisensory approach. This training has equipped you with the tools to implement evidence-based reading and writing instruction effectively, empowering you as you complete our course.

Throughout the training, you've come to recognise that Yoshimoto Orton-Gillingham Basic training is more than just a program; it's an approach grounded in the science of reading. This approach extends beyond phonics, encompassing the development of language comprehension and word recognition essential for proficient reading and comprehension.

You now grasp the significance of explicitly teaching alphabetic decoding skills, recognising its universal benefit for all children, absence of harm, and critical importance for some.

In your classroom, you have applied this approach, diligently crafting lesson plans and adhering to Ron's scope and sequence.

Our last round of online interactive discussions were led by Liana Mc Curry in August.

Liana is an incredible teacher and leader who has conducted extensive research as a part of the Churchill Fellowship that she was awarded in 2022. She found that high performing countries in the maths space have well selected manipulative material that remains accessible to students throughout their schooling.  I encourage you to download and read her report which you can download from the button below. Liana has and continues dedicate many hours and extensive research to analyse and make crucial recommendations regarding maths instruction in schools.
